Chat over Chai is a community group that provides a point of contact and community activities mainly for adults over 50; one target group initially being older members of the BAME communities. Our membership has diversified and grown; we are a fully inclusive and diverse group with an increasingly wide reach.
Chat Over Chai is a community that welcomes everyone – we would love for you to join. Due to the current circumstance, we cannot meet together face to face. However, we do have a zoom meeting every Thursday at 12:30 to stay connected. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you would like to join the group.

“I am a Mum of 4 wonderful children. If I was to give myself a title it would be the domestic engineer of the Choudhury household. I moved to Portsmouth from London at the age of 7 with my family. My parents started their business on Albert Road. I enjoy gardening, even more since lockdown. Going to the gym, riding my bike, reading and listening to music.
I love being part of Chat Over Chai”

“I joined Chat over chai in 2016 as an introduction by Jan Proctor, who said that she would kindly ask Rowshonara if I could join. Both my children were in university at the time and I was feeling a little bit of the empty nest syndrome. In Chat over Chai, I found a lovely, lively group of ladies who wanted to engage with community cohesion in Portsmouth. I love being part of the Chat family and being involved with projects in the City of Portsmouth.”

“Hello, my name is Mandy Webb and I first joined Chat over Chai as an artist. I felt for the first time of living in the city of Portsmouth a real sense of belonging by becoming a regular member of the group which led to becoming a committee member. We are an informative group and a family, and many of our group go out of their way to help others. I am so proud to be a part of Chat over Chai.”
